The Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to bat first, which suprised many given the MI bowling attack’s batting power. The openers, Smriti Mandhana (playing against her previous team) and Sophie Devine, began cautiously. Pooja Vastrakar’s early swing bowling affected them, and both fell within the first three overs, put RCB on 18/2.

The equation came down to 18 runs required from the last over, delivered by Rinita Roy, a young RCB bowler. Needing a huge over, Pooja Vastrakar attacked a six off the opening ball, giving MI hope.
